Steelynx Frequently Asked Questions

How do I go about adding my site to Steelynx?

Send an email message to me at:
cstewart@nationalsteel.com (Cathy D. Stewart)
with the name of your site, its URL and the Steelynx
page(s) you wish to be included on.

What does it cost to be listed in Steelynx?

Nothing. Steelynx is free.

Does Steelynx accept banner advertising?

Not at this time. However, if enough people are interested, I'll consider it.

How often is Steelynx updated?

Steelynx is updated on a monthly bases. Requests for additions to Steelynx are collected and posted simultaneously when a list is updated. This means that requests sent at the beginning of a month may not appear until the end of that month. Patience is requested.

I have an idea for a new topic for Steelynx. Interested?

Absolutely. Suggestions for new topics are always welcome.
Send any suggestions or comments to me at:

Who are you?

I am a Senior Engineer at the National Steel Technical Center. Steelynx arose out of my curiosity to find as much information as possible about Steelmaking on the Internet. It is a personal, not a commercial site. In real life I am an Organic Chemist/Microbiologist (so please don't email me with questions on how to operate a Hot Mill or Blast Furnace, I haven't a clue.)

Who owns Steelynx?

Steelynx is graciously sponsored by my employer, the National Steel Technical Center. However, all content and opinions are mine and do not necessarily reflect the opinion or endorsement of National Steel.

Can I copy one of your lists to my site?

Yes, but in return you should provide a link back to the main Steelynx page:

For example:

List of Steelmaking Resources on the Internet provided by Steelynx.
For additional information on Steelmaking visit the Steelynx Web Site at: http://www.steelynx.net

Also, it is a good idea to check back to the original list frequently as all lists are updated and URLs confirmed on a monthly basis. URL 'rot' is a serious problem. Approximately 10% of the URLs in Steelynx 'disappear' ever month and have to be searched out again. If you have a URL listed in Steelynx and you change your ISP or update your site, be sure to contact me so you don't lose your listing in Steelynx during the next update.

I like your icons, can I copy them?

No, you may not copy any of the graphics off of Steelynx without my permission. The exception is the small lynx icon (the lynx face at the very bottom of the icons frame) which may be used in connection with the Steelynx URL as a link to the site.
